Follow the Money

E-mail Print PDF

Portland is a small town.

This town gets even smaller when you start looking* at the people who give money to elect your local government.

What is most disturbing is how few people it takes to donate very large sums of money to keep an elected in office.  For example, Randy Leonard has only 78 cash contribution entry for those giving him money to keep him in office.  More interesting is how Randy gives his money to get other commissioners elected.

Click on the following elected to see who they truly represent:

Sam Adams Randy Leonard Dan Saltzman Nick Fish Amanda Fritz

This is not exclusively an Portland issue.  With a state of a little more than 4,000,000 people and high unemployment, our political gene-pool is more like <insert least favorite state here>.

Here are some current races that may be of interest to you:

Multnomah County
Commissioner #2
Collymore
Metro President Stacey Hughes
Oregon Governor Kitzhaber Dudley

More telling is when you look at our current state electeds:

Governor
Ted Kulongoski
Sectary of State Kate Brown
Attorney General John Kroger
Treasurer
Ted Wheeler
President of the Senate
Peter Courtney
